Successes of speed skaters, sports engineering and the relevance of objects

The future of student sports was discussed at BNTU (Belarusian National Technical University)
The participants of the IV World University Speed Skating Championship were honored at BNTU. Each member of Belarusian team was presented with a certificate of gratitude from the organizing Committee. Athletes had the opportunity of a direct dialogue with the Minister of Education as well as with rectors of their universities.
The event was attended by Minister of Education Igor Karpenko, vice-President of the National Olympic Committee, rector of the Belarusian University of physical culture Sergei Repkin, Chairman of the Belarusian Collegiate Athletic Association Alexander Bogdanovich, rector of Belarusian National Technical University Sergei Kharitonchik, rector of Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University Denis Duk, rector of Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus Marat Zhilinsky and Vice-rector of Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University Vladimir Pozdnyakov.
During the meeting the Minister of Education Igor Karpenko noted “It is a new beginning for Belarus; the second championship of such level and the first one in speed skating. In 2020 Belarus will host a similar championship in canoeing and kayaking.
After the speed skating championship the International University Sports Federation (FISU) thanked the organizing Committee, it means that we managed to organize everything at the highest level, that each of us worked for his best.
World Cup is a great opportunity for young athletes to try their hand. We are very glad that Belarus won four medals. Someone didn’t show the result he wanted but it’s also a valuable experience.
The Minister of Education emphasized that Belarusian National Technical University was chosen as the meeting place for a reason. It is the place where sports engineering is actively developing. And Belarusian skaters are ones of the first who took the opportunity to use new technologies in sports training.
Igor Karpenko noted that university championships were a great opportunity to use the best sports bases of the country as well as to make them accessible for training for foreign teams.
Students-athletes received valuable gifts from the organizing Committee and rectors of Universities.
