Over the moon

The third day of the championship student-athletes representing 11 countries competed in 1000 m men. The race was quite spectacular as it was a true fantastic fight for medals. And only a few milliseconds decided the athletes’ fate.
The gold was given to the Japanese speed skater Tatsuya Shinhama, who finished with the time 1:10.81. Unfortunately, the Belarusian athlete Ignat Golovatsiuk lacked only 0.07 second to overcome his closest opponent. And again he finished the second with the result of 1:10.88.
Let’s remind that March, 23rd Tatsuya Shinhama became the winner of 500 m men race and he left behind Ignat Golovatsiuk who got the silver in this discipline.
«I’m over the moon. As I managed to win two gold medals here in Minsk. I suppose I reached this result thanks to my concentration and the fact that I left all my worries and doubts before the start», – Tatsuya Shinhama shared his thoughts.
«I’m quite upset actually as I’m the second this time again. I’ve expected and waited for the better result as it is my top distance. However, on the other side I got some catching up to do. So generally I’m satisfied with the result. I like the support of the fans. It makes me feel better, especially in the second race when it feels quite hard. Perhaps, it turned out like this because of my excitement. And I’m a little bit frightened to run in such international competitions. After my silver medal I got yesterday I was quite angry and therefore today I was going into the ice with pure fighting spirit. This this the end of the season and everyone is quite exhausted. And my thoughts are only about the sea and the beach, you know, jut to relax. The upcoming Monday starts my vacation and I wish to spend it in a large friendly company. And I think maybe tomorrow I will have the last race this season. So generally speaking I should admit that this season was successful for me. I wish to participate in mass start in the future», – commented Ignat Golovatsiuk.
The representative of Russian Federation, Danila Bobyr, who finished with the result of 1:11.11, got the bronze medal. And to sum up the Kazakhstan and Italian athletes should also be admitted as they demonstrated quite fine results and appeared in top 10.
