The second day of the championship started with sprint 500 m among women. The winner of the race became athlete from Japan Miku Asano – 39.48. Her compatriot Rio Yamada took the 2nd place with the result 39.61. Bronze medal went to the Polish speed skater Kaja Ziomek. Yesterday she also pleased her fans with long-awaited silver medal in team sprint.

The race was tense. Only the final of the race defined three lieders. However the winner didn’t share the excitement that filled the stadium.

«I didn’t worry before the race, I went on ice calmly and confidently, – noted the Japanese speedskater Miku Asano. – I’m not satisfied with the result fully, usually I show better time. I’m glad to take part in the championship. Belarus is a very hospitable country ».

Good results were shown by the Belarusian athlete Anastasiya Hanchuk. Personal records in distance 500 m were improved by Yauheniya Varabyova (41.09) and Mariya Krotova (41.51), who finished the 10th and 12th respectively.
