Minsk-Arena is the largest multifunctional, entertainment and sports complex in Belarus, fitted with the most advanced equipment. Minsk-Arena, one of the largest structures of this kind in Europe, is the main city venue to host international competitions, as well as significant cultural events of our country.
The complex, which hosted in 2014 the World Hockey Championship, includes:
– Arena (seating capacity of 15 thousand people);
– Speed skating stadium.
During the 4th World University Speed Skating Championship, the infrastructure of the whole complex will be actively used, however, competitions will be held mainly at its sports facility “Speed skating stadium”.
For the first time the speed skating competitions among student-athletes won’t be staged in the open air. And this quite convenient peculiarity will allow organizers not to depend on weather conditions. The indoor Speed skating stadium of “Minsk –Arena” has 400-meter track. The width of the double track is 9.5 meters.
The total ice area of the stadium is 10000 m2. There are also two training hockey rinks of European and Canadian standards (60 m × 30 m and 60 m × 28 m) and two tracks for curling. Unique equipment allows to adjust the temperature of ice in different areas for different sports – figure skating, curling, hockey, speed skating and short track. The capacity of the stadium is 3000 seats.
The stadium hosted such significant international speed skating competitions as ISU Junior World Cup series in November 2012 and in December 2014 and European Championships in January 2016.
